I have always had a love for spicy foods. For as long as I can remember there have been options to spice things up, I have always taken the challenge. Over the last 10 years my appreciation for quality food has changed drastically, and I made the shift to what would be called a "foodie". To me this means being more aware of what food and drinks I choose to consume. Instead of regarding food is a task, it is now an activity I put effort and thought into. The old saying you are what you eat, means something very different to me now. This perspective developed when I started to cultivate cannabis in Colorado. I became aware of all the nasty and harmful ingredients people use to grow. Most growers I came in contact with had no regard for the medicine they were creating but only the profit they hoped to harvest. At this point I started to grow my own organic vegetables and from then on I only bought organic produce. Having total control of what goes into your body has its challenges, but being mindful goes a long way. As the plant-based diet became more mainstream I started to see a lot of not so good ingredients in those products. One of those being "natural flavors". That is not something I trust. Other ingredients I'm skeptical of are "stabilizers" and "gums". What happened to shaking things up? During the COVI-19 pandemic I had time to experiment with making a hot sauce that had quality ingredients without the thickening agents. After a few iterations I landed on what became "The Staple". I found myself putting this delicious sauce on almost everything and I wasn't getting tired of the flavor or spice at all. From there I decided to kick up the heat and developed "Yucatan Bam", a habanero focused sauce. On one of the many trips to the produce section I noticed ghost peppers and I thought why not level up and see if I can keep the flavor while making the sauce extra hot. To my surprise the ghost pepper had an amazing flavor all its own, and so "Phantom Flare" was added to the party. While I tried to source all organic ingredients in my recipes the options for hot peppers are limited. My vision for future production to partner with a local farmer that will cultivate the hot peppers for me. I believe that building awareness around locally grown and organic cultivation methods will help raise the vibration of global consciousness. We are living in a time where we are constantly being attacked by invisible toxins. Change can only happen when you become aware things need to be changed. Hippocrates is quoted in saying "Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.” Wisdom that could never be more true. Eat real, whole food and feel the effects it has on your mind, body and soul. While you are at it spice things up with The Pepper Stash!
